Kona Dream Builds: Superb Steel – Jorge’s Sutra LTD

This post is a part of our Dream Build Series. Start your own dream build here!

When you are used to being around the finer things in life, then only the best will do. That was very much the case for Jorge, Hotel Director of the luxurious Pig Hotel in the New Forest and his Sutra LTD.

Having been a long time Kona fan and also in the market for a seriously comfortable steel gravel bike with bike packing capabilities, it was always going to be a match made in Heaven. The all new sparkly paint job combined with the ultra-comfy riding position of this year’s Sutra LTD was enough to convince him that the Sutra LTD was the one.

Jorge quickly set about making the bike his own, adding his favorite Panaracer Gravelking tires, matching Brookes Cambium Saddle, Chris King headset, and an Absolute Black oval chainring. He then added a few upgrades to make his LTD a little more prepared for those bike packing trips. On top of installing a wider range of gearing for when the bike is fully loaded, he’s added a Carradice bag set (only the front was attached at the time we shot the photos) and an Exposure Revo Dynamo front Light & Hub, this thing will even charge his phone!

Kona Libre DL Makes Bike Rumor Editors Choice List

Zach at has had a Libre DL test rig for a while now and we’ve been waiting for his full review to drop. You can imagine how stoked we were this morning when this little tease appeared on Bike Rumors website. Zach seems to feel the same way we do about this bike and has selected it in his annual Editors Choice post. You can read what he wrote below and head to their site to see just what else made Zach’s list here.

“Kinda letting the cat out of the bag on this one before the final review, but the Kona Libre DL has been such a fun bike. The geometry and positioning is pretty wild compared to some of the competition, but I think that’s part of why I like it so much – it certainly meshes well with riders coming from an MTB background. While the bike sits you up fairly high, and the bars are super wide, the ride is incredibly comfortable and I realized the other day that I haven’t been getting numbness in my hands on rides which tends to happen on other bikes almost no matter what. It’s super easy to wheelie, handles mountain bike trails like a champ, and has plenty of mounts for just about anything you’d want. It’s also ridiculously fast. Faster than my current “road” bike, and this thing has 45mm knobby tires. Add in a light build that doesn’t resort to too many carbon parts, and you have a great bike for bikepacking or just gravel adventuring.”

Kona Dream Builds: Emilie’s Rove DL

Emilie Clark from Dallas, TX has taken one of our latest Rove DL‘s and tweaked it some pretty damn cool customization. She’s recently spent time working with her brother Basden at The Local Hub bike shop and he’s pretty sure that the time spent in the shop has rubbed off on the build.

“The impact of being here and working with us is apparent on her bike. The Rove DL is highly modified to her needs and taste with tubeless 40mm Honali Terrene tires, Brooks saddle and bar tape, and a Wolf Tooth comp narrow/wide chainring for 1×9 gearing.”
