My first attempt at the infamous Leadville 100 mountain bike race! (You can check out my prep for this race below). Leadville is a 104ish-mile mountain bike race, climbing over 12,000 feet all over 10,000 feet in elevation. I was EXTREMELY nervous to take on this task, especially given my recent concussion (nearly full) recovery and the high elevation. I chose not to go to altitude for a training block or acclimation, so my race plan for this race mimicked my race plan for the season: survive, not thrive. My day was spent balancing effort and managing the altitude. I think I did a good job! I finished the race in 9:03 aboard my hardtail carbon Kona Honzo with Astral Serpentine wheels. I rode Maxxis 2.4 Race Rekon tires front and rear with a Shimano XTR 34t 10-51t drivetrain. I wore 7mesh Skyline jersey and carbo bib shorts.
