We are five stages down here at the Breck Epic and it has been four bronzes and a silver. Lachlan Morton won the first two stages, then Jeremiah Bishop the third and Tasman Nankervis the fourth, and Lachlan won again today, the top 10 has some fast legs in it this year. Consistency is paying off and I’m sitting 2nd overall in GC, 21 minutes back from Lachlan in first. We both used Leadville 100 as an opener the day before Breck, so far it seems to be paying off.

Every stage has been a beauty as the Colorado singletrack is in prime condition after some moisture over the weekend. We’ve been soaking up the sunny weather which we were especially grateful for today going up and over the continental divide twice, crossing above 12 000 ft where there isn’t a lot of oxygen available! The training this year was a bit different before this Colorado doubleheader spending the time at home in the Canadian Rockies in Jasper and Mcbride. Using a couple of different training techniques including running up 3000-meter mountains seems to be paying off as the engine is firing well.

There’s just one stage left to go here, but the whole race has been amazing, taking in Colorado’s heavenly alpine singletrack.
