Now that there are a few frame only Honzo ESD‘s out in the wild we are starting to see a few more builds pop up with the #KonaDreamBuilds hashtag. Gene from Southwest Bikes in Las Vegas, NV put together this Bootleg Canyon destroying bike that is well worth delving a bit deeper into.

Much like the complete ESD, Gene has opted for some classic Marzocchi suspension up front, but he’s gone with the Z1 coil.

Some classic carbon SRAM Descendant cranks combined with OneUp’s alloy pedals power the ESD…

…While a SRAM XO DH 7 speed rear mech and cassette ensure that the rowdy Bootleg Canyon terrain stays in check.

We Are One Union carbon rims are laced to Industry 9 Hydra hubs and the bike is shod in Maxxis rubber, an Assegai up front and a Dissector out the back.

The build is wrapped up with a 200mm PNW Components Loam dropper post complete with a brown leather Chromag Trailstar DT saddle.
Up in the cockpit, you’ll find a Race Face Atlas stem holding a OneUp Carbon 20mm rise handlebar in place. Those brakes are Hope Tech3 E4’s (the UK’s finest) and the cockpit is finished off with a set of AME lock-on grips.
