The crew at Back Alley Bikes in Varrboro, North Carolina know a thing or two about putting together epic dream builds, we’ve featured a few here over the last couple of years, and today’s Sutra ULTD definitley fits their M-O. Jason has taken our out-of-the-box monster cross genre defying Sutra ULTD and stepped things up a few notches, swapping out a few things and adding a few more. Lets dive in and check it out.

The bikes SRAM NX/Rival groupset has remained for the most part as have the Maxxis 2.25″ Rekon Race tubeless tires. Jason has swapped out the stock Kona stem for sexy blue 40mm Industry Nine A31.8 Mountain Stem and added in a Spurcycle bell.

Jason has rebuilt both front and rear wheels, the heart of the new front wheel is the Shutter Precision PD-7 series Dynamo hub. The hub powers both the Busch + Müller IQ-X front light as well as Secula Plus rear light. The hub is laced to a Stans Arch rim.
The rear wheel is an Industry Nine GRX rim laced to their 6 Pawl 1/1 Freehub Body.
A set of One Up’s new super low profile oil slick colored alloy pedals transfer the watts.
Death to White Supremacy. We are trying to find out exactly what these fenders are, cos’ they are damn sexy.
Depending on the weather, Jason can stash a tire plug on this fancy little clip, or something a little more perishable.
A set of Planet Bike alloy bottle cages make use of the bikes many mounts and hold a matching pair of Purist bottles.

An off the shelf Salsa EXP frame bag perfectly fits the Sutra ULTD’s front triangle, while a home made cor-flute mud guard keeps the bag clean and communicates a public service announcement.
