COVID hasn’t exactly been kind to any kind of bike racing this year and cyclocross is no exception. And things probably just got that little bit harder for Kona Adventure Team Rider Kerry Werner as his 2021 Major Jake race bike and build kit showed up last week. Fingers crossed we’ll get to see him in action on it in 2020, in the meantime though let’s have a good look finished bike!

The bike is built with a shed load of Shimano’s new gravel-specific GRX groupset. The 42t chainring and 1x GRX crankset and BB kick things off.

Out the back, there’s more GRX in the way of an 11speed rear derailleur and cassette.

Braking is taken care of with GRX’s flat-mount calipers mated to Shimano center lock 140mm rotors.

Bright orange Lizard Skin DSP bar tape keeps Kerry in control, while the ergonomically designed GRX levers ensure easy shifting and braking.

The wheels are a Dura-Ace affair.

Tire choice out on the east coast for Kerry right now is a matching pair of 33c Maxxis All Terrane’s.

Kerry’s race ready Major Jake build is completed with a Pro bar and stem combo and Waahoo computer.
