When Brian from Bonzai Cycle Werx in Texas fired this insane Rove ST custom build though via email, our collective jaw hit the floor. This thing is a real head-turner and for all the right reasons. We don’t have a ton of photos (but you get the idea) and Brian has supplied us with a very detailed build list. The bike was built for a customer who had a dream (don’t we all) and Brian and his crew narrowed it down and chose the spec to suit his needs, wants and budget.
We started with a 54cm 2020 Kona Rove ST frame and fork and then decided on accent colors. Gold was a must so we obliged with a gold FSA Orbit headset, a gold SRAM XX1 Eagle cassette, gold SRAM XX1 Eagle chain, a gold SRAM XX1 Eagle DUB carbon crankset and brass gold ONYX Vesper hubs.
We wanted to add in some Oil Slick accents and we figured it would match awesome with the purple/gold so we added a set of Xpedo oil slick pedals and some SupaCaz Oil Slick Star Sticky Kush bar tape.
Then we needed the brakes, derailleur, shifter and cockpit parts. So we decided on a Jones H Bar, mounted on a Whisky stem with a matching Whisky alloy seat post. SRAM Guide R Brakes w 160mm 2 piece rotors and TRP adapters slow the bike down and a Charge Camo saddle keeps things comfy.
Then for the wheels, we went with a Built By Bonzai Wheelset – the only way to go ;). The Onyx Vesper Hubs were laced to a set of carbon Whisky 27.5 rims with DT Swiss double-butted spokes and then shod with WTB Byway tubeless tires sealed w Orange Seal Endurance sealant
