Race one of the Crankworx Summer Seires kicked off today and both Miranda Miller and Rhys Verner found their way to the podium. After a four stages of rowdy Silverstar terrain, both Squamish, BC based riders would finish in third place.  With three races left at Silverstar anything can happen but both Kona Gravity riders are off to a solid start.

“Trying hard is my favorite, whether it works out or not, it always feels good. We raced four stages here at Silverstar and they all brought something unique to the day. The pace that was brought from all the menand women today was really high and it was great to be in the mix. The longer we waited to go racing, the more it felt like I didn’t know how. To end up 3rd is a great first day and step forward but I won’t be underestimating the amount of work we have left.”

“After the longest build-up to race ever, we finally got to get behind a start gate today. Not going to lie, I was pretty nervous about racing, but I felt ready and confident that I had the speed. I started off really strong with a smooth and consistent stage one, which ended up putting me in the lead. The next two stages were super physical and again I felt like I rode solid. I lost the lead to Finn Iles but was still in a tight battle for second with Kasper Wooley. On the fourth stage I smashed a rock with my tires which scared me a bit, so I rode a bit conservative to finish off
the day. Unfortunately, I lost my second place by 0.4 seconds, but none the less I was pumped to land on the podium!

It feels amazing to be back racing and I’m so excited for the next three weeks! Graduating university this spring gave me the opportunity to fully commit 100% to racing and I feel like I have made substantial gains over the last few months. Bring in the next three weeks. I am ready!”
