Wow. When we say that our new CEO Ken Meidell is a cycling enthusiast, we say so knowing his own personal Dream Build absolutely proves it. Receiving a CEO that is as passionate about bikes as we are, is almost as rare of a gift as a Titanium Humuhumu frame. Seen by few, and built by fewer, this bike is the holy grail of commuters and has such a cult following. That is, if you know that it exists.

One thing that isn’t just Kona folk lore (although it does seem too good to be true) is the build list for this beauty. Let’s take a deep dive on what components are worthy of being installed onto this gorgeous raw frame. No doubt each piece will help Ken roll through his hometown of Bainbridge Island more efficiently.

The HumuHumu was born from our beer enthusiast staff, dubbed the “bar bike.” Introduced in 1992, the Humu was styled after some of the first mountain bikes, like the Trailmaster and the Pro-Cruiser. All of these bikes had the double top-tube frame and moto-inspired handlebars. This is your go-everywhere, every day means for knockin’ about.

The latest incarnation blends retro styling and Kona’s original P2 fork with modern features, like sliding dropouts, disc brakes and 29-inch wheels. Cool as it ever was.

This bike in particular is rolling on WTB CZR i30 Rims and WTB Thick Slick 29×2.1” tires.

You’ll find a Wolf Tooth 18t cog in the rear making those WTB hubs work!

Sram Level Ultimate brakes for some serious stopping power paired with Sram Centerline X 160mm rotors.

You’ll find a KMC chain keeping the wheels turning along with a Wolf Tooth 30t chainring and stunning Cane Creek Titanium eeWings crankarms.

You’ll find a Thomson X stem up front along with the classic Moonmen Moonriser Titanium handlebar.

To keep things light, a Race Face Next SL Carbon seat post with a WTB Silverado saddle with Titanium Rails.

Every inch of this bike is a dream! Our CEO really knows a thing or two about putting together a nice ride.
