David works in forestry in Ireland’s Slieve Bloom Mountains and after work most nights, he hits the trails with local MTB trail builders who also happen to be working in the Slieve Blooms. A simple inquiry about what would be a good all-round hardtail led David to the purchase of this here 2020 Big Honzo DL. Further encouragement from the trail builders resulted in the immediate purchase of a whole bunch of anodized Hope goodness, adding some pretty serious personality and bling to this already solid build.

The entry-level SRAM SX drivetrain is gone, replaced with SRAM’s workhorse GX series out back, up front he’s spec’d a Hope EVO crankset with a matching 32t chainring.
SRAM’s super tidy XX1 shifter.
Up in the cockpit, David has installed an anodized orange Hope Headset and AM Stem, the handlebar is an alloy Race Face Atlas.  Stopping is a Hope affair also, the levers are Hope Tech 3’s while down at the business end you’ll find Hopes powerful four-piston E4 caliper.
So much orange! The wheels are hand-built Hope Hoops. Hope Pro 4 Evo hubs laced to Hopes bulletproof 30mm internal Fortus rims.
We’ve always had a soft spot for Hopes floating disc rotors.
David has finished of the build with the best flat pedals money can buy! Yup, a set of our own Wah Wah II alloys.
